Principal Dr. Susan Fries
Dr. Susan Fries has been in education for many years, 27 as an administrator. She has worked with parents, students, the community, and staff in a variety of capacities. She has worked in traditional and public charter schools, turning them around when they were failing. Dr. Fries has worked for Charter Schools USA, Geist Montessori Academy, and the Indianapolis Public Schools. She is instrumental in increasing enrollment and putting schools into excellent academic and financial condition.
Dr. Fries is also a Clinical Supervisor for Education, monitoring and evaluating students’ teachers in their final semester. She works alongside the student teacher and classroom teacher, supporting both to ensure the student teacher becomes the best teacher possible for the children.
Professionally, Dr. Fries obtained her bachelor’s from the University of Cincinnati, master’s in education from University of Indianapolis, Leadership and Administration License from Indiana University, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Philosophy from Purdue University.
Dr. Fries believes that every scholar can learn and will do whatever it takes to help them be successful.

Aaron Baugh, Teacher, CTE – ISIN, since 2019, BS History - Purdue University, 5 Years teaching experience at middle school and high school level in Technical Education and Social Studies, I'm a veteran of the US Air Force and served from 2002-2006.
Heather Baumann | High School English Teacher
Heather Baumann, High School English Teacher/Hoosier Academy, since 2019, Secondary English Language Arts with a minor in Literature I have been on this wonderful journey helping students to achieve success in the classroom for 6 years now. I won a trip to Maui through a radio station where I learned why you will never find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. (Rainbows are full circles and you can only see that from the air!)
Greg Blatz | High School Math Teacher
Greg Blatz, MS Math Teacher, Hoosier Academy Indianapolis, since 2013, B.S. Mathematics/Teacher’s Certificate 6-12. Overall this is my 14th year of working with middle and high school students as a math teacher with an additional 2 years working in a special needs preschool and 3 years as a director of religious education and youth ministry for K-12. That is 19 wonderful years of following my dream of helping students to have a successful life. I am the youngest of 13. I have 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
Vickie Brandenburg | High School Math Teacher
Vickie Brandenburg, ISIN HS Math Teacher, since 2016, BS Mathematics Education. Prior to Hoosier, I taught middle school mathematics. I have been teaching since the 2011-2012 school year. I enjoy kayaking!
Matthew Dillon | High School Social Studies Teacher
I am a veteran Social Studies teacher, but new to the Insight School. I graduated with a B.S. from Ball State University in History that included an internship at Conner Prairie Living History Museum. I also have a M.A. in Secondary Education from Ball State. I am a certified scuba diver, an avid music fan, I enjoy traveling to experience all types of outdoor activities, and I love spending time with my family. I have a passion for history that I want to share with my student’s everyday.
Brittany Eckhardt | Special Education Teacher
Brittany Eckhardt, Special Education Teacher, ISIN HS, since 2017. I hold a Bachelor's in Exceptional Needs K-12 and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.I taught 3 years at Delta Middle School and 6 years at Oak Hill Junior High and High School as a Special Education Teacher. I love watching cooking shows and cooking. My favorite things to cook and eat are Thai and Indian curries.
Carla Gehlhausen | CTE instructor
Carla Gehlhausen, Computer Education teacher, CTE – ISIN since 2019, BS in Accounting from Brescia University and a MA in Education from Oakland City University. I taught in a brick and mortar schools for 7 years before joining Insight before that I worked as an accountant for 30 years. I am married to a wonderful man and we have 4 awesome kids, 2 grandkids, 4 German shepherds, a yorkie, an African grey parrot and 3 Paso Finos. My favorite thing to do is go horseback riding and spend time with my family and my critters.

Steve Hurst | Biology teacher
Steve Hurst, Insight High School Biology teacher, since 2012, Master’s degree in Secondary Education, 36 years in public schools as a high school biology teacher, football coach, assistant principal and athletic director. I think Indiana is an awesome state to live in because of the people you meet.
Tim Kasper | Middle School Mathematics
I graduated from Ball State University in 2000 with a B.S. in Mathematics Education. This will be my 19th year in education. I've been a classroom teacher for 12 years and a Director of eLearning for two years. For four years I was a teacher and an assistant administrator at a private school. I am a proud Hoosier and a big Colts fan! I've been married for 20 years and have 3 kids and 2 dogs. I am happy to be at Insight School of Indiana!

My family and I love to travel, camp, and spend time in nature exploring. A few personal hobbies of mine include: reading, sewing/quilting, crafting and cooking.

Verdan Mizdalo | High School Math Teacher
Vedran Mizdalo, Insight math teacher since February 2020. I hold a BS and MS in mathematics. I absolutely love doing and teaching math. I have been teaching in traditional high schools and worked as an test engineer, but I very much enjoy teaching here at Insight. I also teach math courses at IUPUI as a part time instructor. I have a beautiful family that I love so much. They give me all the strength to keep going during the hardships. We love Indiana and its lakes. Any chance we get we go and spend time in the nature hiking, camping or boating.

Michelle Myers is new to Insight, but in her third year of teaching. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Secondary English/Language Arts, license additions in English as a new language and as a reading specialist, and a minor in education policy. She lives in Greenfield, IN with her dog and cat.

Jon Osborn | High School Science Teacher
Mr. Osborn teaches math and science in Insight School of Indiana. He as a Bachelor’s degree in physics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master degree in physics from the University of Arkansas. He has been teaching high school and middle school for eight years now. He has been a adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech community college since 2007. Before he was a teacher, he was a computer engineer, so you can ask him about unix commands. He is a strong Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) advocate. His life long teaching goal is that one of his students will go to Rose-Hulman to help build the future.
Libby Powell | High School English Teacher
Libby Powell, high school English teacher at ISIN. I have a B.A. in English Education from Ball State University and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Olivet Nazarene University. I previously taught at Shenandoah School Corporation for 23 years teaching various English classes, as well as dual credit through Indiana University. I am married to my husband of 25 years,
and we have 3 grown children, a son, Carson, and two daughters, Avarie and Eden. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, and taking my dog Teddy for walks.

I worked in sales, marketing and management in the "business world" before becoming a teacher, My wife and I have been to four Coldplay concerts and three Earth Wind & Fire concerts; my two favorite bands!
Brian Shepherd | High School Social Studies Teacher
Mr. Shepherd is a science teacher from Indianapolis, IN. He obtained his B.S. in Geology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Indiana State University. Additionally he has obtained a M.S. in Athletic Administration from Ohio University, and has been a successful track & field coach in the past.
Mr. Shepherd is married with 3 daughters, and enjoys various sports as well as the outdoors. When his career comes to a close, he will be moving to rural Washington to enjoy the beaches and mountains on the west coast.

Vicki Slinker High School Mathematics Teacher
Vicki Slinker, Mathematics Teacher for Insight School of Indiana since 2021, and has a BS in Mathematics Education from
Indiana State University. I have been in education at the high school or college level since 1992. My husband and I have two grown children, one of whom went to a charter school in high school and the other spent his freshman year in a virtual school. I love the outdoors and enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing. I am certified to teach mathematics, grades 9-12.

I've been teaching for the past 14 years, this is my seventh school year with Hoosier/ISIN. My previous experiences have helped me a lot with our student population. Before coming to Hoosier, I taught all levels of elementary school as a general education teacher and a reading specialist/interventionist around central Indiana. I love obstacle courses, hiking, axe/knife throwing and pretty much anything that is outdoorsy and challenging. I have a life goal of hiking the Appalachian Trail and the Machu Picchu Trail one day.
